-RAPID is a hands on method of myofascial “release” that stimulates the deep fascia of the periosteum of the bone. Why the periosteum? The periosteal fascia is the richest source of sensory free nerve endings in the body-richer than the eyes, ears, nose and skin-combined. (3) Accessing the neurobiological system through the periosteum accesses 1000 times more receptors than just massaging muscle alone.(2) By accessing the neurobiological system this way we are able to effect both the central nervous system and autonomic nervous system to reduce tissue tone and increase tissue viscosity, this in turn melts adhesion and tissue tension. (4,5) All of our course participants are amazed at how they not only feel tension and restrictions leaving their partners but also leaving themselves as they progress through the weekend seminar. -In addition to the periosteum we also aim our releases at the aponeurosis, nerve sheaths, tendons, joint capsules and ligaments as these tissues are also highly neurological.(5) -RAPID also utilizes movement to stimulate the motor control center of the brain and stretching to stimulate the golgi tenon organs to additionally reduce tissue tone as well to encourage deep healing of the tissues. (1,5) -RAPID offers the practitioner the ability to successfully treat the most complex musculoskeletal complaints that mainstream medicine has little to offer help for such as; sciatica, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, bursitis, frozen shoulder, Baker’s cysts, back pain, migraines, TMJ-D, vertigo, tinnitus, arthritis and so much more. -RAPID is an unusual treatment. Treatments that are unpredictable and stimulating affect the biggest response from the central nervous system. Creating unusual body sensations are most likely to be interpreted as ‘significant’ by the filtering action of the reticular formation of the central nervous system. Boring and predictable treatment will be less likely to elicit significant change. (5) -RAPID is an effective and simple to learn technique that is applicable the very next day out of the course. -RAPID is ideal for practitioners who like to give deep treatments but their hands do not. -RAPID can be used as an add-on or standalone treatment to increase revenue stream. Most of our therapists who use RAPID this way say their course was paid for within the first two weeks after their seminar. RAPID can also simply be used as a tool in your therapeutic toolbox.
